Our Queer Isles: Unearthing the Ancestors

  • Strule Arts Centre Townhall Square Omagh, Northern Ireland, BT78 1BL United Kingdom (map)

Join us for a powerful evening of storytelling, poetry, and music with Our Queer Isles: Unearthing the Ancestors, a unique performance supported by the Four Nations International Fund, in partnership with Creative Scotland, Arts Council of England, Arts Council of Wales, and Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

This multi-disciplinary performance unearths hidden queer histories from Northern Ireland, England, and the Republic of Ireland, offering audiences a rare glimpse into LGBTQ+ lives and legacies.

Tyrone, London & Co. Clare Collide:

  • A musician channels a surrealist archivist, imagining queer archives and stories.

  • A storyteller uncovers the journey of a queer English hero.

  • A poet explores the queer legacy of Fintona’s own Raymond Browne Lecky.

Meet the Artists:

  • Cat Brogan – Award-winning spoken word poet from Omagh, TEDx speaker, and BBC Edinburgh Fringe Slam Poetry winner. Cat brings to life the story of Raymond Browne Lecky, delving into Tyrone's LGBTQ+ history.

  • Rachel Rose Reid – Internationally renowned storyteller, uncovering the voice of Silence, a queer English hero/ine, through captivating stories.

  • Branwen Kavanagh – A talented musician who embodies a surrealist archivist, using music, image, and invented archives to explore queer experiences.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to witness an artistic blend of storytelling, music, and poetry while supporting the work of Omagh Pride.

Funded by the Four Nations International Fund in collaboration with Creative Scotland, Arts Council England, Arts Council Wales, and Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
